The Birth of Fairfield Baptist Church

Fairfield Baptist began in 2013 when God led a group of members from Northreach Baptist Church, which meets at Kirwan, to start a new work in this area.

The church was led from its inception by Pastor Stan Solomon, a deeply respected Baptist pastor.

New Ministry Centre

In September 2018 the opportunity to purchase our first permanent ministry base came up. 151-155 Stuart Drive, Wulguru was a former sports club and training facility. In November, 2018 God led the church to raise additional funds from the church family and by God’s grace we were able to purchase the building without debt in late January, 2019. 4 days after settlement Townsville began to experience a massive rainfall event. This event flooded our temporary meeting venue at Oonoonba State School and necessitated a temporary move to Annandale Christian College. There were some roof leaks at the new property which led to a very large insurance claim that rebuilt a large part of the building over the next 18 months.

Covid

The Covid Epidemic led to radical lockdowns which meant that the church was restricted in meeting together for 4 months. During this time we maintained a “gathering” by creatively using the interactive on-line platform – Zoom. God was very gracious in adding to our church during this time.
